The Annoying Know-it-all

¿What is a Know-it-all?

For me, a know-it-all is a person who is opinionated and strongminded. A person who knows itself, both strengths and learning points, who can have a discussion about a certain topic with people who know more about it, but doesn't feel less because s/he knows that is the best way to learn.

A know-it-all is someone who is proud of their smarts, and not just their book smarts, but street smart, logical smart, creative smart and so on. Who is not willing to play dumb to earn other people's likes, because so often other people see their smarts as a threat, because so often they prefer not having to think. Who prefer to earn your respect, by showing you s/he can.

This is a person who makes mistakes, but also invest in their growth, because knows it can make a difference, it can help the world. Is someone who surrounds with smarter people, because prefers to be the dumbest in a room full of smarts, than the smartest in a room full with dumbs. S/He doesn't look for recognition of fame, but to keep improving and learning.

I know you can't really know-it-all, but this person is willing to try, so don't tell them they can't, because they'll just try to prove you wrong. Don't tell them they cannot have an opinion about something, just because they're young, or black, or poor, or a women. They'll prove you they can, and they'll not be willing to compromise their values.

They are often wrong, as much as they are right. They sometimes learn, and sometimes teach. They'll listen to you, to learn what they can. They'll share with you what they have to offer. But if you are not willing to grow or help them grow, you better get out of their ways.

If you've ever been called an annoying know-it-all, don't ever feel like it's an insult. Knowleadge should never make you feel ashamed. Just listen more carefully, and only take what will make you grow.

This is a blog for all you fellow know-it-alls out there. To share your views, to learn with me, and help us learn as well. Through knowledge, we fight ignorance and hate.

Let us keep fighting...
